President's Message:

Greetings Members, Family and Friends of High Desert Alumnae Chapter!

Welcome to High Desert Alumnae Chapter's website. Thank you for visiting, It is with pleasure that we present the mission and history of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., as well as HDAC's history, goals and calendar of events. The service area of the High Desert Alumnae Chapter includes the communities of Adelanto, Apple Valley, Barstow, Baldy Mesa, Hesperia, Lucerne Valley, Newberry Springs, Phelan, and Victorville among others.

Delta Sigma Theta was formed as a public service organization based on Christian principles. As a sisterhood of more than 280,000 predominately Black college educated women, we are committed to excellence by reaching beyond the call of duty. From our 22 Founders over 100 years ago to the current membership, Deltas all over endeavor to empower communities through our Five Point Programmatic Thrust:

Economic Development

Educational Development

International Awareness and Involvement

Physical and Mental Health

Political Awareness and Involvement

High Desert Alumnae Chapter was chartered on September 17, 2006 in Victorville, CA. Since that time, we have worked consistently to better San Bernardino County High Desert area communities by providing needed public service projects and information. Whether providing assistance to local group homes and homeless shelters, providing voter registration drives, providing mentoring through our Delta Academy and Delta GEMS programs to junior and senior high girls, awarding scholarships to high school seniors, or promoting higher education through our college and career fairs, HDAC strives to positively impact our communities.

Throughout its existence HDAC has received awards from other civic organizations, the U.S. Congressional Women of Distinctions from Rep. Paul Cook and recognition from our National organization for our work "creating dreams" for young women via our Delta Academy program. It is my hope that we can partner with other civic organizations to increase our service reach. Though ours is a small chapter, we are committed to hard work and will continue to diligently serve the High Desert area. I welcome you to visit our website often. Your questions and/or comments are strongly encouraged. I look forward to greeting you soon at a HDAC sponsored event.

Sincerely,

Llawanna F. Carroll, President
