Not sure on How to Combat Racism?

Start here

Great Links to share/discuss on learning about how to combat racism and what's next (movies, videos, books, clips, activities, etc.).

-Marita Golden’s books, particularly, “Skin Deep,” an anthology on race relations between black and white women.

What's next/What can be done?

Donate to organizations that fight against the disproportionate treatment of Blacks (NAACP, Urban League, United Negro College Fund, etc.)

Many have been asking what they can do to make real change during these times...check out the #8CantWait campaign. These 8, Use of Force policies can reduce police violence by 72%...and your mayor has the power to adopt them now. Call or email your mayors and tell them to adopt these 8, life-saving policies now. Visit 8cantwait.org to find your mayor's contact info and see what measures your city may already be taking.

You should not be color blind, nor teach your children to be color blind...

The Human Genome Project has taught us that 98.9% of our DNA is all the same and we need to recognize AND celebrate the differences.

Make sure your playdates and Mommy and Me gatherings are diverse.

Start talking skin color, hair texture, etc. early and often because kids already see and recognize the differences at young ages.

Say "black," "African American," "Hispanic-American," "Asian American," etc. out loud, so you can celebrate differences and begin early to come together and make a difference.

Black people can not be the only ones teaching America about racism-- it's a combined effort.

Also, in case you're unfamiliar with the Doll Test, here's a look...
